Maybe.First, a quick update on the bellydance coverup. It's in time out. I was trying to be a good little dancer and affix rhinestones to my new garment. And I MELTED A BIG HOLE in the damn thing. On the front. There is no getting around this. It'll get a patch, but only when I can look at it without glaring. Now, onto the main point of this post. I've Rebeccahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17655017534199278478noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35076479.post-19056858152208054062011-01-09T21:27:00.002-05:002011-01-09T21:44:32.705-05:00I spent a bit of time this weekend sewing (no pictures yet, sorry!), and I had a little bit of an epiphany about color. I purchased this particular fabric a couple of years ago when I was at a conference outside of San Francisco. At the time, I loved the fabric. I thought it was interesting, and nuanced, and I thought it would make a great cover-up for my various bellydancing exploits. All in all, though, I don't feel too guilty. 2010 was a pretty good year. There were some disappointments, but I learned a lot, and feel like I've come out ahead, in the end. It's certainly not one of those Rebeccahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17655017534199278478noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35076479.post-70501902269040065702010-07-14T20:51:00.003-05:002010-07-14T21:13:20.235-05:00HiatusWowzers. It's been ages since I've posted last. Eons. Nearly a year? Sad and pathetic.I'll not try to catch everyone up on the past year, because you've either been keeping up (more or less), or you don't care at this point. The general themes are the same: no one has died (thankfully), I have the same work (thankfully), and I live in the same geographic area. Of course I moved. Melbourne...in posting the rest of the Australia tales. Life has interfered, it seems, and is prohibiting me from getting anything written up! In the meantime, I can offer an entertaining teaser or two. (well, hopefully they're entertaining!)One of the questions that followed me around Australia was "Which city do you like better? Sydney or Melbourne?" The proper answer was, of course, Melbourne, because Rebeccahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17655017534199278478noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35076479.post-28892575264212667292009-08-19T02:50:00.002-05:002009-08-19T03:24:16.620-05:00Update 2.fullOkay, funsters, here is the rest of the update, now that I've got some internet time on my card again! You got the surf update. The rest of Noosa proved to be quite a learning experience. This experience came in the form of the other people I was staying with. If you are looking for Americans in Australia, go to Noosa. That's where they're hiding. I had lots of other problems! The last two days were really instructive, and it was good, because the waves got progressively harder as the time wore on (nature's doing, not the school's)...I got Rebeccahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17655017534199278478noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35076479.post-7434652482807639402009-08-14T17:35:00.002-05:002009-08-14T18:00:48.003-05:00Australian Trip Update 1Well, here's the first update from Aus. The plane ride was very, very long. I was sort of successful in my attempt to sleep all day in an effort to ward off jetlag. I slept on both legs across to LA, and woke up feeling pretty alert and awake, but grungy. I had 5 hours to kill in LA, and spent the better part of them looking for a shower so I could clean up and change into the sweats I had Rebeccahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17655017534199278478noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35076479.post-18231929737413651912009-08-10T22:11:00.004-05:002009-08-10T22:16:39.397-05:00Ain't nothing like the last minuteHey everyone, so I'm keeping this short, because I'm leaving in 12 hours and I'm still not done packing and, well, an update is low on the priority list. I know you procrastinators would say that I have oodles of time. It'll all get done...but a headache is starting to set in, thanks to the combination of no sleep and caffiene from the past couple of days. Sleep may win. You are so neglected. The primary reason for this is because I have been out doing things and living life, rather than writing about it. So, what has been filling my days? Hopefully in the next few I can show what I've been up to lately. First, in the crafting realm. I have been asked to do a very interesting craft project. The story goes something like this: Once upon a time, my Rebeccahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17655017534199278478noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35076479.post-50073451423727678122009-04-19T22:01:00.004-05:002009-04-19T22:22:33.436-05:00PrettiesOne of the casualties of the divorce was my creativity. About this time last year, I couldn't make anything for love nor money. I could knit, because, to me, knitting isn't all that creative (blasphemy, I know!)...not in the grand scheme of things. I could follow a pattern fairly easily, and with my only instruction being "make it fit", well, that doesn't require too much thought from me, Rebeccahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17655017534199278478noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35076479.post-56230169566407474642009-03-06T20:09:00.003-05:002009-03-06T20:32:27.995-05:00Long Story ShortYes, I know I've been remiss in posting. What can I say? I tend to spend more time living life than writing about it. That and I write all day long--that's my job--so writing at night tends to take a back seat. It shouldn't, though. Some good news, though. My last check from Robert came today. Though I will expound on this in other places, it seems like 2008's catch phrase should be "the agony and the ecstasy"...often at the same time! At any rate, I'm glad it's done. On to another year, a new plan, and the tools to accomplish it!Somewhere along the way, I adopted the idea that the way I spent my New Year's Day was indicative of how the year was going to be. Seriously, that was my first thought when I read this. The headline said "Limbaugh thinks Clinton a Brilliant Pick" or some such nonsense...I was going to fall out of my chair to learn that the man might have aquired a bit of decency. Rest assured, he's still a malicious jackass, so all is still (mostly) right with the world. And this will be the last time I Rebeccahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17655017534199278478noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35076479.post-661962220415845742008-11-23T21:14:00.003-05:002008-11-23T21:22:00.172-05:00The best part of winter..Is fruit stuff. This stuff doesn't have a name. Just "fruit stuff". There's nothing to it, really. Just oranges and grapefruit, cut up into a fruit salad, marinating in its own juice. This is really popular with the family. When we were all at home, we could go through about 80 pounds of fruit in a season between four people--40 lbs. each of grapefruit and oranges. Besides, according to the people who do marketing, Xmas started 3 weeks ago, and I'm officially late! ha!1. Wrapping paper or gift bags?Yes. Now that I don't have the thesis looming over my shoulders all the time I've been able to start taking whacks at the list of things I said I was going to do when I was done. Properly speaking, Step One was to find a job. Step Two is to get out of the debt I accrued when living on next to nothing. To that end, I did this:I've left one behind for Rebeccahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17655017534199278478noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35076479.post-56233040353207415002008-11-12T22:22:00.004-05:002008-11-12T22:39:43.979-05:00Big ol' jet liner...don't carry me too far awayWhile prowling the internet tonight, I came across this article describing dream symbols that point to stress. Oddly enough, I don't remember any of those dreams from when I was thesis-writing. In fact, I don't remember any dreams from that time. Only that I went to bed tired, woke up tired, groaned, looked at the clock, swore a bit, and got back to work. One of the changes I have noticed since Rebeccahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17655017534199278478noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-35076479.post-44424558846979064972008-10-19T20:55:00.006-05:002008-10-19T21:12:28.715-05:00New at the Hollow...Whew! What a whirlwind October it's been. More news will come out as it comes, but the first big piece is that I've moved. woohoo! Anyone who's asked me about where I live anytime in the past 18 mos has gotten a treatise on why NO ONE should live at Franklin Woods, and now I can say I don't live there myself anymore.
